Simulation code for engines, written the way engineers need it.

EngSimSoft is the practice of one senior developer: camshaft and valvetrain design tools, engine gas dynamics, CFD workflows and teaching software — scoped, written, verified and supported by the same person.

What I build

Custom engineering software: the tool your team cannot buy off the shelf, built around the physics you actually work with.

CAMKinematics

Camshaft & valvetrain design tools

Cam profile design from measured lift data, follower geometry for finger, rocker and pushrod trains, valve-spring and valvetrain dynamics, and manufacture-ready cam data — including grinding-wheel paths for CNC cam production.

Lift dataFollower geometryGrinder output
GAS1D wave

Engine gas dynamics

1D wave-dynamics codes for intake and exhaust tuning, blowdown and scavenging analysis, plus set-up and tuning tools used by racing teams on kart, motorbike and small-car engines.

Wave actionScavengingRace set-up
CFD3D flow

CFD & 3D flow workflows

OpenFOAM case setup, solver customisation, meshing scripts and post-processing pipelines for ports, manifolds, cooling flows and in-cylinder studies — automated so engineers run cases, not paperwork.

EDUCourseware

Teaching software

Interactive engine simulators for universities and training centres: students change the cam, the timing or the exhaust and watch pressure waves, valve motion and the power curve respond in real time — much like the bench above, with the full physics behind it.

LEGRescue

Legacy scientific code rescue

Thirty-year-old Fortran still runs the industry — until someone has to touch it. I refactor and modernise legacy C++/Fortran simulation codes: clean CMake builds, Python bindings, new interfaces on proven physics, and documentation the next engineer can follow.

How I work

Engineer first, no middlemen

You talk to the person who writes the code. No account teams, no telephone game between your requirement and the commit.

Stage 01

Scope

A short technical call. We pin down the physics, the inputs, the outputs and what “done” means.

Week 0
Stage 02

Prototype

A working core in weeks, not months — enough to test the approach against your real data.

Weeks 1–4
Stage 03

Build

The production tool: solid numerics, tests, builds on your platforms, documented.

Weeks 4–16
Stage 04

Support

I stay with the code. Fixes, extensions and answers come from the author, directly.

Engagement & budget

Scope callno charge
Prototype, weeks 1–4from €12,000
Production tool€40,000–90,000
Support retainerfrom €1,200 / month
Fixed price per stage, agreed after the scope call — you know the number before the work starts. Expert reviews and open-ended investigation are billed by the hour. Legacy rescue is quoted after a look at the code.

Simulation software is a precision instrument. It deserves the same care as the cam it helps you grind.

About

One engineer, thirty years of engines

Vladimír Šarandin is a Czech-based principal engineer with thirty years in engine simulation and CAE software — first an engineer who programmed, then a developer who engineers.

His career spans engineering companies in the Czech Republic, where he built calculation tools for camshaft design, engine gas dynamics and thermodynamic cycle analysis. EngSimSoft is the brand under which he now works independently for engine specialists across Europe and beyond: small enough to stay personal, experienced enough to be handed the hard problems.

Clients get one person who scopes the work, writes the code, verifies it and stands behind it. When the work is done the code stays understandable — commented like an engineer's notebook, building like a modern project, ready for the next thirty years.
